[Please Note: The vast majority of extended benefits plans cover some or all costs associated with individual counselling sessions provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). If you intend to cover the cost of sessions under a group plan, please check with your employer to ensure the coverage criteria includes RCCs. If you plan does not cover RCCs but does cover Psychologists, Social Workers, and/or Counsellors with other designations, you can make a request to your employer through the Human Resources Department to adjust the plan to include RCC designation. Many employers are not aware that making this change is easy and can be done at no extra cost to them. Receipts are issued via email and may be used for health plan reimbursement or as a medical expense toward your personal income tax.]

ADULT IN-PERSON CLINICAL COUNSELLING

In person sessions offered on Wednesdays include in-office sessions or Walk & Talk sessions. These sessions can only be booked once a Virtual Intake & Assessment Session has been completed.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) stimulates and reprocesses the brain's neural networks to work through disturbing experiences by using a set of procedures to organize negative & positive feelings, emotions, & thoughts. This can create significant shifts in experience of anxiety, depression, chronic pain, burnout, anger, distress, self worth, PTSD, and more.

Visit https://www.kaydahealth.ca/rcc-maryam to watch a video into where Maryam talks more about how she works and who she is.

Service: Maryam helps women, couples, caregivers, professionals, students, retirees, immigrants, adult children of immigrants, and BIPOC people experiencing burnout/ exhaustion, anxiety, depression, grief, a lack of identity, who have spent years holding everything together – for their families, their careers, their communities – yet feel like it is never enough. Maryam slows things down so that you can get unstuck from emotional patterns and blocks, detach from labels, roles & responsibilities that don’t serve you, face your fears, find self acceptance, and learn new coping skills.

Approach: Maryam uses curiosity, practical coping tools like nervous system regulation, boundary-setting that protects your time and energy, and more to calm mental overload, quiet racing thoughts, and create breathing room in your day. She draws from Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Systems Therapy to connect with your inner world, uncover the beliefs and dynamics that have kept you feeling stuck, and begin to create new ways of living and relating that feel authentic and freeing. This leads to lasting change.

Credentials & Modalities: Maryam is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) (#22361) as well as a Registered Social Worker (RSW) (#15052) with the BC College of Social Workers.
