Clinical Supervision is a supportive and educational interaction intended to continually augment the clinical practice of the Supervisee in delivering competent and ethically appropriate counselling services to their clients. The process may include, but is not limited to, reviewing cases, observing sessions, engaging in role plays, and discussing methods, modalities, and skills. The Supervisor will be utilizing a Process Model of supervision as a lens through which to provide feedback. This model entails exploring the client and how they are presenting, the intervention in terms of techniques and strategies, the therapeutic relationship, the reactions of the Supervisee, the supervisory relationship (parallel process), the reactions of the supervisor, and wider contextual issues (ie. system or organizational). Through this process, the tasks of Clinical Supervision are to enhance counselling skills, case conceptualization, awareness of professional role and emotional state, insight, and judgement.
